Do you have pupils in your school who don’t feel listened to? Who feel frustrated? Who are disruptive in the classroom or playground? Peer Mentoring has been proven to help. Effective mentoring schemes contribute to radical changes in the general atmosphere within schools. Greater mutual respect amongst adults and pupils often results in an enhanced learning environment, a reduction in anti-social behaviour and an increase in self-respect and self-worth.
esh consultancy & training offers a wide range of training to suit your school’s needs. Primarily, with mentoring as the focus, we can provide training on how to set up and run an effective mentoring scheme; how to keep its’ momentum and how to measure the impact that your project is having. All our courses can be bespoke and are both interactive and informative. Each mentor receives an individual training manual, a badge and a certificate of attendance and the school will receive a project coordinators handbook, containing steps to running an effective and ‘safe’ mentoring scheme as well as numerous helpful resources.
In addition to helping to achieve the ‘Approved Provider Standard’ (APS), our mentor training and the projects that can be run as a result of it, complement the 5 social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings, motivation, empathy and social skills, which the Government have identified in the new SEAL initiative, which they believe are the underpinning qualities and skills that help us manage life and learning effectively. It also can help a school work towards one of the core themes of the ‘Healthy Schools Initiative’ by looking at the ‘emotional wellbeing’ of the children. This initiative is about creating happier, healthier children who do better in learning and in life - mentoring supports this goal!
